Activator Technique

What's the Activator Technique?

If you've had a chiropractic adjustment before, you're familiar with the process of a chiropractor delivering short, high-velocity motions to certain areas of your spine to allow your body to move into alignment. The Activator Method uses similar principles, except your chiropractor will use a handheld electronic instrument to deliver pressure to the spine.

.

Some people find that it's more comfortable to have a smaller surface targeted by the Activator than it is to have a standard manual adjustment. Our team at Belleville Chiropractic and Wellness Center, S.C. would like to take a closer look at the Activator Technique.

Is the Activator Technique Safe?

The Activator Technique is widely regarded as safe. Your chiropractor will talk with you about your health history and goals for treatment prior to beginning the Activator Technique to ensure that it's a good fit for your body and needs. You may find that you have some soreness or discomfort following your Activator session. This is normal and should subside within a few days.

Why Do People Choose the Activator Technique?

There are a few different reasons why some people prefer the Activator Technique over more traditional methods of chiropractic care. As mentioned, some people simply find the Activator to be more comfortable than traditional chiropractic adjustments. If you find that traditional adjustments are too forceful for you, the smaller surface area of the Activator may create a less intense feeling.

With the Activator, there's no need to twist or turn—your chiropractor will simply apply the device at targeted areas to realign your spine. Since the Activator works quickly, the muscles in the area to which pressure is being applied do not have time to react to the force, allowing your chiropractor to make adjustments without having to account for muscle resistance.

While most people find the Activator to be a comfortable treatment option, don't hesitate to speak up if you feel any pain or discomfort during your treatment—we're here to help you feel your best.
